Red tea (black tea) is one of the six best Chinese teas. It is an oxidative-fermentative tea. What makes it distinctive is its reddish color. Teas grown in India and Sri Lanka are the best known for their red tea, so Chinese red teas are less represented. There are a variety of teas in China, but red tea is not locally consumed very much. Interestingly, however, China exports more red tea than any other tea; it stands at 50 % of its gross production and has been gaining in global popularity.
